One Thing to Know Before You Go

While Florida has no traditional boating license, a law updated in 2010 requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1988, to hold a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card to operate a motorized vessel with 10 horsepower or more. If you were born before that date, you are good to go with just a photo ID.

If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you have two simple options:

Option 1: Permanent ID Card
Complete a short FWC-approved online safety course and receive a Boating Safety Education ID Card that never expires and is valid in all 50 states. Available at myfwc.com.

Option 2: Temporary Certificate (valid for 90 days)
Perfect for visitors: take a quick 25-question online exam through an FWC-approved provider, pass with 19 correct answers, and receive a certificate valid for 90 days. Cost is around $10 to $14 and the whole thing takes about 15 to 20 minutes on your smartphone. Approved providers include boattests101.com and aceboater.com.

Please make sure to have your certificate ready before your rental date. Florida law requires us to verify it before handing over the keys.

Important Information

Minimum rental age is 21 years. A valid government-issued photo ID is required. Guests born on or after January 1, 1988 must present a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card or a valid Temporary Boating Certificate before departure. A security deposit is required for all rentals. Fuel must be refilled before return. A full safety and handling briefing is provided before every rental.
